Welcome!

NSBE Family,
Welcome to the Mother Region of the National Society of Black Engineers!
My name is Shelbie Prater, and I have the honor of serving as your 2017-2018 Region IV Chairperson.
I am beyond thrilled to be working with you all this year as we set forth to “increase the number” and reach our goal of graduating 10,000 black engineers annually by 2025.
As a Region, we strive to have a collective impact that will move the Society even closer to these goals. We will do this by aligning ourselves with the National directives and centering our efforts around two critical components: Improving the Membership Experience and Increasing Exposure.
Each and every one of us has a part in this -- the Region IV Executive Board is already hard at work, ensuring that we do everything in our power to understand the needs of the members and provide tailored support to our chapters -- but the key driver in this mission is not the REB, it’s YOU. The road to 10K is paved by the dedication and contribution of members like you.
Our National Chairperson, Matthew Nelson, has placed a new task in front of us: “mobilizing the engineering exposure army.” This is a direct call to the membership, NSBE’s foot soldiers, to take part in spreading the word about engineering to both our peers and the younger students following in our footsteps. This year, in addition to helping our collegiate members excel academically, we will be extending a hand backward to uplift and inspire our pre-collegiate students. Who better to do this in your local communities than you? #Region4LuhhTheKids
You all have entrusted me to lead our F4MILY to greatness this year, and for that I am forever grateful, but I won’t be doing it alone! It’s been an enormous blessing to work with the Region IV Executive Board this far, and I know that with your help, we can take our Region to brand new heights - as long as we remember to lift as we climb!
In the words of the great Danielle Render, “just like the torch, it’s LIT!”
Fo’Solid, Fo’Life. Let’s do this, ya’ll.
With NSBE Luv,
Shelbie Prater
WHAT’S UP REGION IV!
My name is Jada Jamison and I have the pleasure of serving as your 2017-2018 Fall Regional Conference (FRC) Chair.
This year’s Region IV FRC will be held from November 17-19, 2017 at the Wisconsin Convention Center. FRC provides a forum for discussion and information exchange between collegiate, pre-college, professionals, and corporate representatives at the regional level. Within the three-day weekend we encourage academic excellence and professional development through various technical, cultural, workshops and competitions, and Career and Graduate School Fairs. This year’s Region IV FRC is expected to bring out 800-900 attendees. As part of Madam Chair’s platform, this FRC we will be working on Improving the Membership Experience and Increasing Exposure by focusing in on NSBE Jr. and Collegiate interaction. I encourage all of our collegiate attendees to take part and volunteer with our NSBE Jr. students at least one time during FRC. We are working towards our 2025 goal, and it starts with them. We are today’s scientists and they are tomorrow’s so it is our duty to lead them as their successors!
On behalf of Region IV, I would also like to thank the city of Milwaukee in advance for hosting us on one of the greatest FRC’s in Region IV’s History! I am looking forward to seeing you all November 17!
With NSBE Luv,
Jada Jamison
